A Kansas Senate committee is looking at a way to bring changes to the juvenile justice system there ultimately reducing the amount of juveniles who commit minor offenses from being locked up as well as reducing the amount of time juveniles spend locked up. However, the District Attorney argues against this saying the number of juveniles who are locked up is already reduced from previous years from legislative changes. He continues to argue that this means the system is already working and they don't understand the need for drastic change when they numbers are already decreasing.
